Talbot Consultants International Inc. has recently been retained by Shoppers Drug Mart, Canada’s largest retail chain, to conduct a detailed analysis of all its current stores in order to assist it in developing a “new generation” store format that can compete effectively with the recent arrival of Wal-Mart. Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation is the licensor of full-service retail drug stores operating under the name Shoppers Drug Mart® (Pharmaprix® in Québec), which constitute the largest drug store group in Canada. The Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix brand is one of the most recognized and trusted names in Canadian retailing. The Company's over 850 licensed drug stores and 46 Shoppers Home Health Care® stores are situated in prime locations in every province and two territories, making the Company one of the most convenient retailers in Canada. Over the past 40 years the Company has grown to become the leading player in Canada’s retail drug store marketplace and the number one provider of pharmacy products and services. In fiscal 2002, Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix stores recorded system sales in excess of $5.4 billion. The project is currently on-going.
